We planted Cabernet Sauvignon as cuttings direct in the vineyard in 1998 on some lower slopes with cool night time temperatures for gentle, slow ripening of the fruit. Unfortunately, today only a small portion of the original 4 hectares remains and it is not irrigated.

The 2023 Freedom Cabernet has intense colour and tannin, flaours of anise and ribena, ingering finish with a touch of oak.

The grapes were slowly open-fermented with daily punchdowns, and no yeast added.

    Lovely wine. Our favourite from Rosnay.

    I’m not a big Cab Sav drinker so probably not a good arbiter of taste here. Probably will stick to the Shiraz for my regular red hit.

    Cowra is the biggest national wine show in Australia outside the capital cities. It has 45 entries in the 2012 Cabernet Class, and the Rosnay 2012 Cabernet was second in the class, after the Brands Laira Coonawarra Cabernet.
