Christmas News, 2018

Its been a huge year here at Rosnay.

No doubt the drought has been having an impact and we’ve been lucky to have irrigation for our crops but its a tightrope walk between accepting a lower yield as nature would appear to intend and pouring on megalitres of irrigation water which could lead to a build up of salt over decades… So even though we are watering we are keeping it to a minimum and accepting a smaller than usual crop this year. Even so the few storms we have had, such as 27mm just last week, have done wonders for the vines, olives and figs as well as one’s state of mind!

Have a look at this video we recently did in a new planting of Grenache vines.

The new winery building is now finished and we are moving in the “package deal” of tanks and equipment from Tom’s Waterhole over the river to Rosnay. Now busy cleaning and installing them and seeing what works and doesn’t. A huge thanks to everyone who helped make this happen. Its a milestone and we looking forward to having a post vintage party in it!

We did a video of this the other day – check it out!

Meanwhile the cellar door has been busy, with concerts, birthday parties, field days and tourist buses, with more and more visitors dropping in and seeing what we are up to. Highlights included the Biodynamic Field Day. Canowindra Baroquefest, Cecile’s 100th birthday and Wooly’s 50th! In case you havent been here for a while, here’s a quick video of the cellar door…

Some of the new release wines have been hitting the market, including the new Vermentino Grenache “amber wine” which was released at Grazing Down the Lachlan – and well matched with Thai Fish Cakes.

The 2018 Freedom Red is now 3 different reds, instead of one blend: a Shiraz, a Mourvedre and a Grenache Carignan. Meanwhile the 2018 Freedom Chardonnay and Rose are also both released. If you’d like to try these new wines they are now available in a few Melbourne bottle shops, as well as direct from the winery.
