Rosnay Organic Wines, Olives and Figs – Canowindra

Organic Farming

We converted our family farm “Rosnay” to organic and biodynamic farming in 1997, bringing the soil back to life, and planting grape vines, olives and figs. We grew organic vegetables and broadacre crops. We built farm houses, a winery and our cellar door from straw bales. Our farm is powered by a solar microgrid. We planted many trees, make compost on farm and use many regenerative and biodynamic farming methods.

Organic farming allows us to live and work as a family, using our knowledge and skills to work with nature and produce delicious food and wine.

Preservative Free, Natural Wines

We have grown organic grapes for nearly 3 decades, and today we naturally ferment them into delicious preservative-free wines in our own strawbale winery. In 2012 we made our first “Freedom” preservative free wine. In 2020 we stopped using sulfites all together. Since 2022 all our wines are fermented with wild yeast. Our winery open to visitors and is right next to our cellar door.

Artisan Olives and Figs

After planting the first vines we developed an interest in olive growing, eventually planting 2,500 mixed oil and fruit varieties in 1998-2000. Our olive oil is unfiltered and cold pressed. We ferment our kalamata olives for 12 months in rock salt brine.

Later, we got a taste for figs, perfectly suited to this climate, and planted 8 varieties in 2004. These are also packed, dried and cooked by hand on “Rosnay”.

Our Family and Community

We left the wool industry in northern NSW in the mid-1990’s, moving to Canowindra, in the NSW Central West. Our family’s interest in horticulture, wine and organic farming began several generations ago in France. Today three generations are living on Rosnay and work it as a family farm.

Our farm is also part of a unique community development called Rivers Road Organic Farms.

Drop in, Taste, Tour or Stay

Our Cellar Door is open daily, 11am to 5pm. You can drop in and taste wine with us, although we do recommend pre-booking our other tasting packages or farm tours. These take around 2 hours with a knowledgeable family or staff member sharing all about our farm and its produce. We can cater for large tour groups and have disabled access and facilities.

We also offer Farmstay and Glamping accommodation in the original farmhouse and out in the olive grove.

Gallery, Concerts and Events

We are proud to represent local artists on the walls of our cellar door, as well as hosting concerts, film nights and craft markets.
